Dr Carolina Salazar
Dr Carolina Salazar is a PhD-trained biomedical scientist, microbiologist and skin microbiome specialist whose work sits at the intersection of biotechnology, dermatology and cosmetic science.
As the lead scientist and formulator behind biomiq, Carolina has played a central role in bringing the brand’s biology-first philosophy to life. Her work focuses on microbiome-led skincare designed to support calmer-looking, stronger-feeling and more resilient skin over time.
Originally from Ecuador, Carolina brings deep scientific expertise together with warmth, curiosity and a distinctly human approach to skin science.
Her own skin journey helped shape the biomiq philosophy. After experiencing hormonal breakouts and reactive skin, Carolina became deeply focused on the relationship between the microbiome, the skin barrier and long-term skin health.
While developing biomiq’s earliest formulations, she tested products herself long before they reached customers, reinforcing her belief that healthy-looking skin is not built through harsh trends or quick fixes. It is built by supporting the skin’s biology consistently over time.
Today, Carolina leads product innovation across the biomiq range, combining microbiome science, biotechnology and cosmetic chemistry to create science-led skincare for real-world skin concerns.
