Biomiq did not begin in skincare. It began with years of Australian biotechnology research into inflammation, the microbiome and living biological systems, how cells
communicate, how microorganisms influence tissue health, how barriers maintain resilience and how biology changes as we age.

The team behind that research wasn't initially asking how to make better skincare. They were asking much bigger questions about human biology: What causes inflammation? Why do biological systems become disrupted?

And rather than continually
treating the symptoms, could we help support the biology itself?

Those questions ultimately led to skin.

Dr Carolina Salazar, Head of Innovation, had experienced hormonal breakouts and reactive skin herself. She knew the cycle of trying stronger products and increasingly aggressive solutions, only to find her skin becoming more reactive. Her scientific background made her question the conventional approach. She became fascinated by the relationship between the microbiome, inflammation, the skin barrier and long-term skin health.

It was a passion she shared with Mark Williams, CEO, who saw the
potential to take years of sophisticated Australian biotechnology and translate
it into something that could make a difference to people's lives every day.

Together, Carolina and Mark began to imagine a fundamentally different kind of
skincare company, one built from biology out, rather than cosmetics in.
